What is Scalloping?
Bay scallops are small shellfish that live in the seagrass beds along Florida’s Nature Coast. Using a mask, snorkel, and mesh bag, scallopers search the clear, shallow waters for the distinctive blue eyes that line the edge of each scallop’s shell.
Often called the “underwater Easter egg hunt,” scalloping is easy for beginners and fun for all ages. Most scalloping takes place in water ranging from 3 to 10 feet deep, making it one of Florida’s most accessible summer activities.
